About the Role

The Meta Reality Labs (RL) Metaverse Display and Optics team focuses on moving the state-of-art display and optical technologies forward for Meta VR products, which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. The team is responsible for technology development and maturation, component design, novel manufacturing processes and metrology development, and system integration of display and optics, for all Meta VR products. The Metaverse D&O Performance and Immersive Experience team is looking for an experienced Optical Metrology Engineer. This person will work with cross functional teams to define the requirements, lead the development, qualification and implementation of optical metrology equipment for characterizing optical modules and systems for Metaverse VR products.

Qualifications

BS degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of experience Hands-on experience in optical metrology/test development from concept to system validation In-depth knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization High proficiency with analysis tools such as Python, Matlab, C, Minitab or JMP is required Hands-on industrial experience with tool bring-in at the factory Excellent command of verbal communication and presentation abilities BS degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline with 5+ years of experience Experience in computer vision metrics and techniques Hands-on experience with AR/VR products Experience with hands-on characterization of optical test systems, performing testing and validation of optical components and systems Understanding of optical metrology fundamentals, system requirement definition, especially with regards to VR lens optics and VR display Familiarity with color science and free-form optical surface metrology
