About the Role

Meta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney for the role of Associate General Counsel, Investigations. The successful candidate will partner with investigators to prevent harm, protect user rights, privacy, and safety, and address integrity challenges through innovative legal and technical solutions. The role involves addressing complex, novel legal issues within a demanding, fast-paced global environment.

Qualifications

J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location) 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience 5+ years experience litigating criminal cases or providing legal advice to law enforcement 3+ years direct experience in investigations or advising investigative teams Experience advising on data protection, privacy, or matters related to the Stored Communications Act (SCA) Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills Effective communication skills Ability to work with potentially graphic and objectionable content Prior experience as a prosecutor investigating serious crimes such as child safety threats, terrorism, or human exploitation Proven experience in crisis management Technical fluency relevant to conducting online investigations Experience addressing policy issues related to technical investigations, online abuse, and/or privacy Experience working with data protection authorities, financial institutions, and internet industry associations Fluency in multiple languages
